Don't let insects like mosquitoes and bees ruin your vacation. Take a Tedderfield Premium Quality Mosquito Net with you!

Are you getting ready for a wonderful vacation or a business trip to an amazing place?

Don’t let bugs ruin your fun!

Now is a great time to be out in the world on vacation or to be adding special excursions to a business trip.  Unfortunately, all kinds of bugs are out and about too.  Using Tedderfield Premium Quality Mosquito Nets inside and outside will help reduce mosquito bites (and keep away other annoying insects like bees, flies, black flies, etc.).

Mosquito borne disease

Whether you’re traveling in the United States or other parts of the world, it is important to be aware of any mosquito borne diseases that might be active, and to do all you can to protect yourself from mosquito bites.   Common mosquito borne diseases include Malaria, Zika virus, West Nile virus, Dengue fever, Yellow fever, and Chikungunya.  All of these diseases are transmitted by mosquitoes (Note: the Zika virus can also be transmitted by sex).

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The CDC is the government agency in the United States that tracks and monitors disease all over the world and provides the latest information about outbreaks and travel warnings.  We recommend visiting their website to determine if there are diseases (mosquito-borne or others) in the areas you will visit.

One of the easy ways to protect yourself from mosquito bites is to sleep under mosquito nets whether you are indoors or outdoors.  While air conditioning can reduce mosquito activity, it does not prevent mosquitoes from biting.  Mosquitoes can enter any room through an open door or window and then they can lie in wait for their next meal (feeding on you and your loved ones!).  Mosquitoes remain active if the temperature is above 55 degrees fahrenheit, so unless you have your air conditioning on deep freeze, any mosquitoes in your living space will still be active.

Tedderfield Premium Quality Mosquito Nets are easy to pack and easy to use.  Take some along!

How to protect yourself from mosquitoes when you’re not under a mosquito net…

It’s important to protect yourself from mosquito bites as much as possible given the increased incidence of mosquito borne diseases like the West Nile virus, dengue fever, chikungunya, and the Zika virus.

  • It’s best to not wear perfume or any kind of fruity or sweet smelling lotions because mosquitoes can be attracted to these scents.
  • If you are in a location that has electricity, set up a fan to blow towards your group.  Mosquitoes are poor fliers–they do not fly well in wind.  The wind from the fan will help keep mosquitoes away.
  • Wear long sleeves and long pants and socks, especially at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes tend to be extra active.
  • It is a good idea to use an insect repellent.  The Centers for Disease Control recommends only using products containing active ingredients that have been registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) specifically for use as repellents applied to skin and clothing.
  • If you are comfortable using a chemical insect repellent, repellents containting DEET, picaridin, IR3535, and para-menthane-diol products provide longer-lasting protection
  • If you prefer to stay away from chemicals, some oil of lemon eucalyptus repellents also provide longer lasting protection.

I want to fly/mosquito proof my covered front porch so we can sit out there during the day without being bothered by the flies (mink ranches near by ), and especially sit out on nice evenings without being eaten alive by mosquitoes. I wondered if mosquito netting draperies could accomplish this.
What would be the specs on the mosquito netting?? (also keep out no-see-ems). how would be thre best way to hook them up?
    Any help will be appreciated.”
